Instructions

  1. 1 Gather the ingredients.
  2. 2 Add lentils and water to a blender, or food processor and soak for at least 3 hours.
  3. 3 Blend lentils until they are very smooth. Season with salt. (Batter can be used immediately, but for best results refrigerate overnight).
  4. 4 To cook, heat a non-stick pan on medium-high. Grease lightly with olive oil and allow to get hot. Add 1/4 to 1/3 cup of batter to the hot pan.
  5. 5 Use the bottom of a ladle or spoon to spread out into a 5 or 6 inch circle. Lower heat to medium, and adjust from there if needed. Cook the first side for about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, before flipping over.
  6. 6 Cook the second side for about 2 minutes, before transferring to a plate. Keep warm flatbreads covered with a towel while cooking and stacking.

  1. 1 Bring brown rice and 3 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender, 45 to 50 minutes.
  2. 2 Meanwhile, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Stir in the curry powder and red pepper flakes. Cook for a few seconds until fragrant. Pour in the remaining 3 cups of water, bouillon cube, and lentils. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the lentils are nearly tender, about 15 minutes. Make four shallow indentations in the cooked lentils with the back of a spoon, and crack a whole egg into each indentation. Recover, and continue cooking until the eggs have cooked to your desired degree of doneness, about 5 minutes for medium-well. Serve over the brown rice.

  1. 1 Rinse lentils in a 3- to 4-quart pot with water, rubbing lentils between the fingertips of one hand, then drain. Repeat 3 or 4 times or until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 Place drained lentils in the pot and add 2 cups water, tomatoes, ginger, chiles, and turmeric. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, skimming and discarding foam. When tomato skin is loosened and wrinkled, after about 5 minutes of cooking, transfer tomatoes to a plate to cool.

Instructions

  1. 1 In a pot, bring 2 1/2 cups broth to a boil. Mix in green onions and peas. Season with salt, 1 pinch garam masala, 1 pinch turmeric, and cayenne pepper to taste. Stir the basmati rice into the pot. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes.
  2. 2 Melt the butter in a wok over medium-high heat. Cook and stir the mushrooms and garlic in the melted butter until lightly browned. Mix in green bell pepper and red bell pepper. Season with 1 teaspoon garam masala, 1 pinch turmeric, and cayenne pepper to taste. Stir in the lentils and 3/4 cup broth. Reduce heat to low. Cook 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lentils are tender.
  3. 3 In a skillet over medium heat, cook the almonds, stirring frequently, until lightly browned. Remove from heat, and set aside.
  4. 4 Increase wok heat to medium. Mix the rice into the wok with the vegetables and lentils. Cook and stir until all liquid has evaporated. Garnish with toasted almonds and cilantro sprigs to serve.
