- 2 Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a shallow bowl. Dredge squash slices in flour mixture, shaking off excess. Set aside.
- 3 Melt shortening in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add squash in a single layer to the skillet; cook until golden brown, flipping once, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
