  1. 1 Place a cocktail glass in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes before making the cocktail.
  2. 2 Pour anise-flavored liqueur into the frosted glass and turn to coat the sides. Dump excess liqueur in the sink (or drink it!).
  3. 3 Add sugar, water, and bitters to the glass, stirring to dissolve. Add ice cubes and rye whiskey. Stir and garnish with a twist of lemon.

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients.
  2. 2 Muddle sugar cube, water, and bitters in an old fashioned glass for 1 minute. Pour in whiskey; stir for 1 minute.
  3. 3 Squeeze lemon twist over the glass and drop it in. Add ice cubes. Garnish with orange slice and maraschino cherry; serve with a swizzle stick.

  1. 1 Muddle chopped pear, 1 rosemary sprig, lemon twist, maple syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon until pear is liquified. Add bourbon, ginger liqueur, and 1 cup ice to the cocktail shaker. Cover and shake until well chilled.
  2. 2 Place large ice cube into the rocks glass and set a small fine sieve over the glass. Strain the drink through the cocktail shaker top and the sieve to catch any large pieces of pulp or rosemary. Top with club soda. Garnish with pear wedge and rosemary sprig.

Instructions

  1. 1 Moisten the rim of a chilled martini glass with a twist of lemon. Pour the sugar onto a small plate, and dip the glasses into the sugar. Place the lemon twist in the rimmed glass, and set aside.
  2. 2 Pour the vodka, lemon juice, pomegranate juice, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker over ice. Cover, and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into the rimmed martini glass to serve.
