  1. 1 Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in the green onions, garlic, and garlic scape; cook and stir until the vegetables have softened, about 30 seconds. Stir in the toru, black beans, mushroom oyster sauce, and half of the water. Cover, and bring to a boil. Cook 3 minutes.
  2. 2 Stir in the remaining water, rice vinegar, tamari sauce, and ginger. Add the mushrooms (the mushrooms will reconstitute in the sauce while cooking) and top with spinach. Recover, and turn the heat to low. Simmer until the spinach has wilted and the mushrooms are tender, about 10 minutes.

  3. 3 Pour water, Worcestershire, and tamari sauce into a 9x9-inch casserole dish. Place meatballs in the dish.
  4. 4 Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the centers, about 45 minutes. Toast brioche buns until golden, if desired.
  5. 5 Serve meatballs on top of buns. Place a slice of cheese over each; top with crispy onions and barbecue sauce.

  1. 1 Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil.
  2. 2 Stir in whole-wheat noodles and return to a boil. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta has cooked through but is firm to the bite, 5 to 8 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  3. 3 Combine chicken stock, orange marmalade, tamari sauce, whole ginger root piece, and ground black pepper in a pot over medium-high heat.
  4. 4 Bring sauce to a boil and reduce heat to medium. Simmer until sauce reduces and thickens; about 20 minutes.
  5. 5 Remove sauce from heat. Stir in lemon juice and set aside.
  6. 6 Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. 7 Cook and stir chicken in hot oil until golden, no longer pink in the center, and the juices run clear, 5 to 10 minutes.
  8. 8 Remove chicken from skillet and set aside, leaving oil in the pan.
  9. 9 Cook and stir the stir-fry vegetables in the same skillet used for the chicken until vegetables are almost tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
  10. 10 Remove ginger root piece from sauce and discard.
  11. 11 Stir chicken and sauce into vegetables and cook until heated through, 1 to 2 minutes.
  12. 12 Serve over whole-wheat noodles.

  1. 1 In a bowl, mix together the cucumber, green onion, carrot, rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of mirin, and sugar until the mixture is well blended. Refrigerate 3 hours to overnight.
  2. 2 Place the pork in a mixing bowl, and lightly combine with tamari sauce, sesame oil, 1 teaspoon of mirin, ginger, chili garlic sauce, and fish sauce. Divide the meat into 6 equal parts, and form each part into a patty. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. 3 Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.
  4. 4 Grill the burgers until the meat is no longer pink inside and the outside is crisp and brown, about 5 minutes per side. To assemble, place a burger on a sesame seed bun, and pile about 1/4 cup of the pickle mixture onto the burger. Sprinkle with a bit of fresh basil and mint, if desired.

  3. 3 Combine oats, millet, onion, carrot, celery, potato, safflower oil, tamari, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and black pepper together in a large bowl; mix well.
  4. 4 Press 1 pie crust pastry into a 9-inch pie pan. Pour filling into pie crust. Top with second pie crust pastry; pinch edges together. Pierce a few areas of the top crust to allow pie to ventilate during baking. Brush top crust with beaten egg.
  5. 5 Bake pie in the preheated oven until crust is golden brown, about 40 minutes.
