Instructions

  1. 1 Spread margarine onto one side of each slice of bread. Set a large skillet over low heat, and lay 6 bread slices in it with the butter side down. If you can't fit 6, just fry in batches of 3.
  2. 2 Place slices of cheese onto the bread in the skillet and let cook until the cheese starts to melt. Place slices of corned beef and chicken over the cheese, and then sauerkraut. Spread the creamy dressing onto the dry sides of the remaining slices of bread. Place dressing side down onto the sandwiches.
  3. 3 Increase the heat to medium, and cook until browned on the bottom. Turn sandwiches over, and cook until golden on the other side.

  1. 1 Place puffed wheat in a large bowl; set aside. Grease a 9-inch square pan.
  2. 2 Grease the rim of a medium saucepan to prevent boil-over. Place cocoa powder, corn syrup, brown sugar, and butter or margarine in the saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring often until the mixture comes to a full boil. Allow to boil for 1 minute, and then remove from heat.
  3. 3 Pour chocolate mixture over puffed wheat and stir until puffed wheat is evenly coated. Using a buttered spatula, press the mixture into the prepared pan. Allow to cool, then cut as desired. Wrap squares individually, or store in an airtight container.

  2. 2 Combine 1 cup bread flour, egg, yeast, and milk mixture in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook; beat at lowest speed for 1 minute. Let rest 5 to 10 minutes.   2. 2 Stir together 3 cups of flour, the sugar, pepper, yeast, and salt together in a large bowl.
  3. 3 Heat water and margarine to 130 degrees F (54 degrees C) in a saucepan over low heat. Pour the hot water-margarine mixture into the flour; quickly stir a few strokes to combine. Stir in 1 egg, beat the mixture to form a loose batter, and stir in 1 1/2 cups of flour. Knead the dough on a floured work surface until smooth and elastic, about 4 minutes.
  4. 4 Divide the dough into 12 equal-sized pieces, form them into rolls, and place them into the bottom of the prepared pan. Set the pan into a sink of hot water (about 115 degrees F/46 degrees C) until the rolls have doubled in size, about 15 minutes. Beat egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of water until thoroughly combined; brush the dough with the beaten egg yolk mixture.
  5. 5 Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes.

  1. 1 In a large bowl, sift flour, baking soda and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water until mixture forms a ball. Divide dough in half and shape into balls. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.

Simmer for about 15 minutes, or until dumplings are cooked through.
