Instructions

  1. 1 Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat for 3 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove sausage and set aside.
  2. 2 Add oil and potatoes to skillet and cook until golden brown.
  3. 3 Add ale, sauerkraut and mustard to skillet, mixing with potatoes until blended. Cook over medium-high heat for 2 minutes.
  4. 4 Return the sausage to the skillet, continue cooking for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

  1. 1 Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in parsley, tomato paste, hot pepper sauce, chicken bouillon, and paprika. Pour in 1/2 the ale; simmer until flavors combine, about 5 minutes.
  2. 2 Pour remaining 1/2 ale into skillet; add shrimp. Season with salt. Cook until shrimp absorbs liquid and turns pink, 15 to 20 minutes.

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat bacon grease in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. 2 Combine flour with salt and pepper. Coat beef cubes.
  3. 3 Brown meat in the bacon grease until nicely browned. Remove to a paper towel, and set aside.
  4. 4 Heat olive oil in the same pot. Cook onions, garlic, carrots, and celery over low heat. Add the vinegar and sugar. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Deglaze the pan by scraping off the food stuck on the bottom of the pot.
  5. 5 Return meat to pot. Pour in beer, then stir in parsnips, turnips, red potatoes, parsley, and bay leaves. Reduce heat to medium low. Cover and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients.
  2. 2 Combine plums, bread crumbs, flour, suet, eggs, carrot, apple, cherries, currants, golden raisins, mixed fruit peel, raisins, chopped blanched almonds, brown sugar, stem ginger, walnuts, ground almonds, lemon juice and zest, mixed spice, and baking powder in a large bowl; stir in ale and mix well. Let each family member take a turn stirring and make a wish.
  3. 3 Grease 2 large or 4 small pudding basins. Fill with pudding mixture about 7/8 full.
  4. 4 Cover tightly with greased waxed paper, then foil; secure with string.
  5. 5 Stand puddings on a trivet in a large pot of boiling water that reaches halfway up the sides of the pudding basin.
  6. 6 Steam puddings over medium-low heat in boiling water 10 hours for large puddings, 5 hours for small puddings, topping up water regularly until puddings are quite firm and set.
