Instructions

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients.
  2. 2 Line the bottom and sides of an 8-inch round mixing bowl with plastic wrap. Pack softened ice cream into the prepared bowl, then flatten the top and cover with more plastic wrap. Freeze until firm, 8 hours to overnight.
  3. 3 Beat egg whites, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt in a mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
  4. 4 Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place cake in the center. Remove ice cream from the freezer, discard plastic wrap, and turn ice cream out on top of cake.
  5. 5 Quickly spread meringue over ice cream and cake, swirling in decorative patterns if desired. Freeze for 2 hours.
  6. 6 Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  7. 7 Bake cake on the lowest oven shelf until meringue is light brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
  8. 8 Slice and enjoy!

  1. 1 Place cake layers, top side up in two clean 8 or 9 inch round cake pans. Prick each cake with a utility fork at 1/2 inch intervals.
  2. 2 Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Carefully spoon dissolved gelatin over cake layers. Chill cakes for 3 to 4 hours.
  3. 3 Dip one cake pan in warm water for 10 seconds, then unmold onto a serving plate. Top with about 1 cup of the whipped topping. Dip the other cake pan in warm water for 10 seconds and unmold second cake layer, placing carefully on top of the first cake layer. Frost top and sides with the remaining whipped topping. Chill.

Instructions

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients.
  2. 2 Slice strawberries and sprinkle them with sugar (if needed). Cut the bananas into slices and toss with orange juice. Combine pudding mix with milk and mix until smooth. Cut the cake into 1 inch cubes.
  3. 3 Use half of the cake cubes to line the bottom of a large glass bowl. Layer half of the strawberries followed by half of the blueberries, and then half of the bananas.
  4. 4 Spread half of the pudding over the fruit. Repeat layers in the same order.
  5. 5 Beat cream in a chilled glass or metal bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form; spread over top of trifle.
  6. 6 Garnish with almonds and berries if using. Chill trifle for 30 minutes or until ready to serve.
