Instructions

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. 2 In a large bowl combine bread crumbs, onion, pepper, nutmeg and milk. Stir in burger-style crumbles until well blended. Form into 1 1/2 balls.
  3. 3 In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the 'meat' balls in butter. Remove with a slotted spoon and place in a 2 quart casserole dish.
  4. 4 Whisk flour into drippings in skillet; cook until bubbly, stirring constantly. Stir in broth and cream and continue cooking, stirring, until sauce thickens and boils, about 1 minute. Pour over 'meat' balls .
  5. 5 Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

  1. 1 In a large pot, combine meat substitute, black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato juice, onions, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, bay leaves, salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cover. Let the chili simmer for at least 1 hour before serving.

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat olive oil in a large frying pan. Sauté onion until tender. Mix in burger-style crumbles and garlic; cook until crumbles have browned.
  2. 2 Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, vinegar, chili powder, brown sugar, cocoa, hot pepper sauce, cinnamon, paprika, and allspice. Heat over medium-high heat until the mixture begins to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until sauce thickens, 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. 3 While the sauce is thickening, bring a large pot of salted water to boil; place spaghetti in the water and bring it to a boil again. Cook until al dente, about 12 minutes. Drain well.
  4. 4 Stir beans into chili and mix lightly.
  5. 5 Spoon cooked spaghetti into bowls and top with chili. Sprinkle with cheese.
