  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an oversized, deep, glass pie dish and spread apples inside.
  2. 2 Combine eggs and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the wire whisk attachment. Mix on the highest setting until eggs are foamy and change in color, 5 to 7 minutes. The goal is to achieve a consistency something close to meringue.
  3. 3 Turn stand mixer off and switch the attachment to the standard mixing paddle. With the machine on its lowest setting, add flour, sour cream, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract. Mix until just incorporated. Batter should be thick, fluffy, and airy. Do not overmix, as it will deflate the batter. Pour batter over apples in the pie dish.
  4. 4 Bake in the preheated oven until the top turns golden brown and a knife comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Let cool just until it is safe to handle the pan; loosen edges and flip the cake onto a serving platter.

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. 2 Arrange pastry in the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan. Place apples in crust.
  3. 3 Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and cinnamon together in a bowl; pour over apples in crust. Sprinkle lemon juice on top.
  4. 4 To make the crumble topping: Place 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour in a bowl. Cut in cold butter with 2 knives or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs; sprinkle crumble mixture evenly over apples.
  5. 5 Take two 15-inch pieces of parchment paper and enclose pie; fold edges up 3 times. Place on a baking sheet.
  6. 6 Bake in the preheated oven, without opening the parchment, for 1 hour. Remove from oven, split parchment open, and cool pie on a wire rack.
  7. 7 Serve warm, or at room temperature.

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients.
  2. 2 Break up compressed yeast and stir into warm milk. Let stand for a few minutes to dissolve.
  3. 3 Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Stir in yeast mixture and egg until smooth. Fold in currants, raisins, and apple.
  4. 4 Cover the bowl and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  5. 5 Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  6. 6 Use two metal spoons to shape scoops of dough into 12 balls.
  7. 7 Drop them carefully into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 8 minutes. Remove doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. 8 Dust warm doughnuts with confectioners’ sugar, transfer to a serving platter, and sprinkle with more sugar just before serving.

  1. 1 Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. 2 Combine apples, brown sugar, raisins, golden raisins, currants, orange peel, lemon zest, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, mace, and ginger in a medium saucepan. Mix together and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. 3 Immediately turn the heat down to the lowest setting on your stovetop. Simmer, stirring frequently to ensure the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Remove from the heat and leave to cool while you prepare your pastry.
  4. 4 Unroll pie crusts onto a flat surface. Cut into 24 circles using a cookie cutter or the bottom of a mug.
  5. 5 Place a circle into the bottom of each cup of a 12-cup cupcake tin. Fill each of the pastry circles with fruit filling.
  6. 6 Brush the edges of the pastry with some of the beaten egg and cover with the remaining circles. Brush all of the mince pies with more beaten egg.
  7. 7 Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 35 to 45 minutes.

  1. 1 To make the crust: Combine flours, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter and shortening with 2 knives or a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in sour cream and lemon juice until dough comes together; some lumps are okay. Divide dough in half and shape into 2 disks. Wrap each in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  2. 2 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. 3 Roll 1 dough disk out to fit the prepared 9-inch pie dish. Roll out remaining dough disk for top crust; set aside.
  4. 4 To make the filling: Place apples into crust in the pie dish. Stir together sugar, flour, and nutmeg in a small bowl; sprinkle over apples. Drizzle with lemon juice.
  5. 5 Brush outer edge of bottom crust with beaten egg. Cover with top crust; trim and crimp edges together. Brush top with beaten egg and cut 4 steam vents.
  6. 6 Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes. Allow pie to completely cool before serving.

  1. 1 Rub chicken breasts with chili powder and 1 teaspoon salt. Place in a baking dish and let rest for 1 hour.

  5. 5 Pour in 4 cups chicken stock, coconut milk, lentils, both curry powders, cumin, thyme, mustard, cinnamon, oregano, coriander, turmeric, nutmeg, cayenne, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 30 minutes.
  6. 6 Fish out and discard the bay leaf. Use an immersion blender to blend into a smooth sauce. Add tomato paste and chicken; cook for another 20 minutes. If it appears too thick, add a little more stock, but the soup is pretty thick. Season with remaining 1 teaspoon salt.
  7. 7 Spoon cooked rice into bowls and ladle soup over top to serve.

  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Set aside.
