  1. 1 Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 9x5-inch loaf pans.
  2. 2 Combine Amish bread starter with oil, eggs, 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a large bowl; mix well.
  3. 3 Pour into prepared loaf pans.
  4. 4 Bake in the preheated oven until loaves sound hollow when tapped, about 50 to 60 minutes.

Instructions

  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together 1/4 teaspoon of cocoa and 1/4 cup of sugar. Grease 10 cups of a muffin tin, and sprinkle each cup with some of the sugar mixture to coat the bottom and sides.
  2. 2 In a large bowl, stir together the flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Pour in the friendship starter, egg, oil, and vanilla; mix until well blended. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each one about 1/2 full.
  3. 3 Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the crown of a muffin comes out clean. Cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line 24 cupcake cups with paper liners.
  2. 2 In a mixing bowl, stir together the Amish friendship bread starter, eggs, vegetable oil, 1/2 cup milk, sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until thoroughly combined. Mix in the flour and cherry gelatin powder. Spoon the batter into the prepared cupcake cups.
  3. 3 Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool.
  4. 4 In a large bowl, beat the vegetable shortening with butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy, and add the vanilla extract. Beat in confectioners' sugar, 1 cup at a time, stopping often to scrape down the sides of the bowl; mix in the milk, and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy. Spread on cooled cupcakes. Sprinkle each cupcake with a few white chocolate chips, if desired.
